Fantasy Football: D/ST Preview

You’ve got to love when a bunch of real positions are condensed into one giant position in fantasy football. Sometimes defenses will go off for huge weeks, but most of the time they score single-digit point totals; or even worse, negative point totals. Defenses and special teams are difficult to predict, because you aren’t just looking at one player. Still, there are the units who are almost definitely going to come through this season, while some will surprise and others will disappoint. When it comes to the D/ST fantasy position, do not reach. Fill out all of your other positions (besides kicker) and even draft some depth at the skill positions. You can wait to take a good unit, and after you read my rankings you’ll know exactly whom those good units are.

Rankings:

1. San Francisco 49ers
2. Houston Texans
3. Seattle Seahawks
4. Pittsburgh Steelers
5. Philadelphia Eagles
6. Baltimore Ravens
7.  Chicago Bears
8.  Buffalo Bills
9. Dallas Cowboys
10. New York Jets
11. Kansas City Chiefs
12. Green Bay Packers
13. Atlanta Falcons
14. St. Louis Rams
15. New York Giants
16. Detroit Lions
17. Arizona Cardinals
18. New England Patriots
19. Miami Dolphins
20. Cincinnati Bengals

That’s all she wrote for Fantasy Football Week! I know, I didn’t mention anything about kickers. I will say this: DO NOT DRAFT A KICKER UNTIL THE LAST ROUND. They are unpredictable and not worth anything more than a last round pick. If you don’t like being told what to do and aren’t going to listen to me, then I guess take Stephen Gostkowski, David Akers, or Sebastian Janikowski.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading my previews as much as I did writing them. Good luck in your draft, although you won’t need luck if you take my advice. See you shortly.
